SEOUL -> TAIPEI

FEELING: Full of good food!
I’m currently writing this from a couch I’m sleeping on, some things never change huh. I did a lot of stuff after that last blog post. We went out and got KBBQ and then Korean shaved ice, and I bought a shirt at this giant outdoor shopping area in Seoul. I asked the worker there what color I should get and she said the yellow one because it brightens my “too dark skin” haha. I always forget the beauty standard in Asia is to be as pale as a Victorian vampire. So I bought the shirt and it was good however my right boob seems to disagree as she is consistently trying to escape it.
After eating all that good food we tried to get a caricature of us but the caricature places only took cash (which was actually pretty difficult to obtain). When I say caricature you probably picture an insulting drawing that you laugh at and then hang on the fridge, but Korean caricatures try to make you look as attractive as possible which, for vain reasons, appeals to me much more. To close off the night we went to Olive Young which is this CVS-like cosmetic store where I bought $80 worth of makeup and the kids laughed about how pale all the foundation was. I bought the aforementioned skin-whitening foundation and looked like a ghost all day today.
The next day we got this all you can eat Korean breakfast with a croffle making station (I cannot emphasize enough how yummy this was) and found out our flight to Taiwan was delayed so we got to explore a bit more. Since we didn’t have cash for the caricatures yesterday we tried to find a place today but they were all closed (maybe a future Korea trip will scratch this itch).
After we had boarded and started taking off, the flight attendant started talking over the P.A. ; since this is in Korea I’m going to need you to read the next sentence in the cutest voice you can imagine. “ ¸♫·¯·♪¸¸♩·¯·♬¸¸annyeonghaseyo! the flight will be two hours longer because of the typhoon. Thank you!¸♫·¯·♪¸¸♩·¯·♬¸¸” I feel like I was the only person who was a little scared— typhoon is a scary word with brothers like cyclone, monsoon, and tsunami, but everything was actually super normal and there wasn’t even any rain. It was just a 4 hour flight. The craziest thing that happened was the temperature being a little low but I think that was probably just the flight crew’s preference and had nothing to do with the storm. The lady next to me lent me her scarf as a blanket though which was cute :3
Finally we were in Taiwan which meant it was time for more good food, hotpot! We ate like pigs and now everyone is crashing due to all the sleep craziness. I feel like all I’ve talked about so far is food, which is awesome because I love food, but maybe its not as awesome to you, the reader. oh well. If you read this far that means the food talk was interesting enough to keep going, so expect more tomorrow.
Take a look at some of the pictures I took, mostly of food and of signs that I found funny.
