FEELING: Grateful for my family!
Hello! Today we started the journey of moving me into my dorm, the international house of Taipei. The family and I went and got sushi rotary (sushiro) after a nice breakfast and bought dorm supplies for my stay. I was swagged out with shower shoes, a new hair towel, and a bunch of other awesome junk for my stay.
Then we got to the dorm and I started crying.
It was a good cry! Don’t worry, dear reader! I just realized that the dorm I was in was much less of a “international student party frat house” and more of a “quiet hostel that you sleep in.” Initially the family and I were worried it would be gross or unsafe but it was actually quite nice for a dorm, I just realized how lonely I would be in the middle of the mountainside without actually knowing how to speak Chinese. So for the rest of the trip I’m staying with my great uncle’s family, they were very gracious in letting me stay there so I cried again because I guess I’m just an emotional guy.
After that, I watched my uncle (reminder that he is 8) and grand uncle get haircuts, overall I’d say it was a good day even if I realized I was a little less brave than I thought I would be. About an hour later we ate some more good food :) I’m super tired and my first day of the Chinese language intensive is tomorrow so I’m gonna sleep. I have a train to catch at 7:00am! bye bye!
