First day of school

AUGUST 10TH, 2026

FEELING: Like a kid againI

I am actively falling asleep right now so im just gonna leave typos in. it adds character anyway. I’ll add pictures tomorrow morning

Today was my first day of school and I had a really good time. I was worried all the people in the program would be way older than me or way younget than me but there were some other twenty something year olds and we all latched onto eachother pretty fast. it felt just like those first few days of college where everyone is all kumbaya best friends and its all cute. I got to be super extraverted to all the other students, i had no idea there would be such a large population of japanese exchange students! They tried to teach me some swear words and I tried to tell them what a school shooter drill was. 10/10 cultural exchange!

Getting to school was fun, I got to take the high speed rail and I love trains so it was like christmas for me. the kids got to come too and they were excited to go on an adventure. After orientation I took my oral placement exam and I got placed in intermediate chinese which is EXACTLY what I had hoped for. Some of the other students are planning on going to a karaoke place this friday and i am pumped for that, it’s looking like the program is going to be really really fun. everyone is so friendly and stuff. During the oral exam i didnt realize the proctor was asking me a list of questions and thought she was just chatting me up before the actual test and she had to tell me to stop talking LOL.

During some downtime I checked out the NTNU bookstore and library and the scenery was pretty cool, I also got my nails done for pretty cheap! The nail salon had trophies in it which made me think about what a nail salon competition would even be, asian people find ways to make everything competative i guess (i say this with love).

today was a lot of yapping. there was another obie there in the program and I hope we get along :) she is very pretty and nice. everyone is really nice actually. it seems like everyone is excited to be there, three weeks seems liek the perfect amount of time to keep this positive buzz goign.

last thing i wanted to mention was that there actually are a lot of elderly people in the program (70+) and while i was comparing schedules with my new friends I realized I was pretty much the only person who signed up to do tai chi out of all of us, so I guess I’ll be the cutest girl in the nursing home when the time comes.

We got back to the apartment and I rode a bike there. this is signifigant because i dont really know how to do that and it was scary riding on a real road hehe. but i guess if that’s my daily commute I have to get used to it. i’ll certainly be learning a lot of new things in taiwan.

school starts at 9 tomorrow but my body is telling me to sleep now so goodnight!
